Medieval plague doctors thought that fragrant herbs and flowers tucked into their masks would protect them. They didn’t. But their impenetrable (and terrifying) leather outfits really did! Their coat was like their hazmat suit. Nowadays, we have soap, so unless you particularly enjoy wearing a lot of leather, wash your hands instead. In fact, wash your hands anyway. Now, do it again.
