Larry Joe Bird, sometimes nicknamed "Larry Legend" or "Gold Hand", is an American basketball player, coach and executive born on December 7, 1956 in West Baden Springs, Indiana.

Considered one of the best players of the NBA's fiftieth anniversary according to a vote carried out in 1996, his rivalry with Magic Johnson was one of the factors in the NBA's revival, a revival which then continued with the advent of Michael Jordan.

Larry Bird has won three NBA Most Valuable Player Awards and two NBA Finals MVP Awards. In 1998, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
